American (English) remake of the French series HPI (2021)
Scenario
It follows Morgan, a single mother of three, and how her exceptional mind helps her solve a crime while sorting through evidence as a police cleaner. Despite his very high IQ, excellent memory, and extensive knowledge of mysteries, Morgan makes a number of basic legal errors that anyone who has ever watched a legal show cannot make. In the first part, for example, he obtains a document from a locked safe in the suspect-victim’s lawyer’s office that would never be admissible in court – illegally obtained evidence. Nor can it be used to obtain other evidence—a violation of the “fruit of the poisonous tree” legal doctrine.
A remake of HPI (2021)
Part 2 reminds you to wear gloves before handling evidence at a crime scene, and part 3 removes all documentary evidence from the police, completely breaking the chain of custody and making anything removed no longer admissible in court. This series revolves around Morgan (Kaitlin Olson), a woman who is a night porter at the LAPD. When he stumbles upon a case file, it piques his interest and he makes a few corrections to a murder board. This leads the class to recognize that you have a talent for perceiving, assimilating and organizing facts, also known as evidence.
He is hired as a consultant
Think Will Hunting meets Adrian Monk. Like Will, she has an exceptional IQ and insightful mind. Like Monk, he is troubled by OCD, though not as neurotically as Monk. But you feel the need to reconcile all the conflicting data (like an itch that needs scratching).
He is also very determined
And although Morgan sometimes feels like an outsider in society, she is very empathetic. I really enjoy this series, although there have been plenty of other police procedurals where an unusually talented civilian works with the cops. Morgan’s character is fun to watch. And the cases contain interesting solutions.
Children are also interesting
She also has three children, so she always has to balance work and home life. In the first episode, her young son actually helps her cause, behind the scenes.
